Laptop unable to open File History

The modern backup tool fails to recognize the backup drive or won't start.
Symptoms
- "No usable drive found"

- Drive formatted incorrectly

Step-by-Step Fix

Re-select Backup Drive
Go to Settings and "Add a drive" again.

Check Drive Format
Ensure the backup drive is NTFS (Windows) or APFS (Mac).

Reset File History
Delete the config files in AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory.
When to See a Technician
File History only backs up folders in your "Libraries" (Documents, Pictures, etc.) by default.
