Laptop unable to access shared network drives

The laptop cannot connect to folders shared by other computers on the same network.
Symptoms

Possible Causes
- SMB 1.0 disabled
- Network discovery off
- Workgroup mismatch
Step-by-Step Fix

Enable Network Discovery
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings.

Check Workgroup Name
Ensure both PCs are on "WORKGROUP".

Enable SMB 1.0/CIFS
If connecting to an old NAS, enable this in "Windows Features".
When to See a Technician
Windows 10/11 disables SMB 1.0 by default for security; only enable it if absolutely necessary.
